Yolanda Rizqi Saputra, Meina Khusni E. S, and Jovita Chelsea M. A have achieved an impressive accomplishment on the national stage in the field of Public Speaking in the Public Speaking Competition organised by Merry Riana School of Public Speaking.

The Public Speaking Competition, hosted by Merry Riana School of Public Speaking, is a national competition held in several cities, including Jabodetabek, Surabaya, and Semarang. There are three categories in the competition, ranging from elementary school (SD), junior high school (SMP), to high school (SMA). Yolanda and Meina won awards in the high school category, and Jovita achieved her awaard in the junior high school category.

Yolanda, Meina, and Jovita competed against dozens of other students from various schools in Indonesia. “I enjoy public speaking, so when this competition came up, I was interested in participating. Since I was young, I’ve enjoyed expressing my ideas and opinions through both writing and speaking. I usually jot down the points I want to convey beforehand, and then I expand on them. After participating in this competition, I realised that success belongs to those who are brave and confident enough to try,” said Yolanda.

Meina didn’t prepare too much because, to be honest, she entered the competition on a whim. Meina felt a certain interest in it. Her dream had always been to win a beauty pageant, but she knew that there were many friends who were more capable than her in the field of science. Meina had been searching for speaking or socialising competitions for a while because she knew she excelled in that area. She was actually afraid of not winning the beauty pageant. But she realised that if you don’t take risks, what can you win? Meina did her public speaking on the day itself, just being herself. She expressed her own opinions, and the key to speaking is not to hesitate because if you doubt yourself, how can people believe what you’re saying? Meina’s preparation involved jotting down important points on a small piece of paper and then developing them in her own words. The day before the competition, she spent the entire day recording her voice to understand her intonation, emotions, and gestures. And after the competition, she realised that success is not just for people with high IQ or extensive knowledge, but for those who are bold and confident enough to try. Even though she came in 8th place, it was her first time participating in a public speaking competition, and she believes it’s a good start.

They are all members of the Public Speaking club. The competitive spirit of these three students has led them to achieve impressive success in this competition. Furthermore, the support and guidance from their parents and teachers have been significant factors contributing to their success.

SMA Semesta BBS Semarang, one of the top leading schools in the city of Semarang, will always support and facilitate its students to continue excelling. Through the Public Speaking club, SMA Semesta BBS Semarang is committed to providing full support to its students to help them develop and excel, both academically and non-academically. Public speaking, the ability to speak in public involving skills in managing thoughts, delivering a clear message, and effective communication, is one of the valuable and essential skills in this era.

Congratulations on the achievements, and may these accomplishments serve as motivation to continue learning, competing, and excelling!
