SEMARANG – Compassion often begins with small acts of kindness and grows into something meaningful when people come together. This spirit was reflected in Semesta Great Charity 2026, which raised IDR 201,626,048 through the collective contributions of students, teachers, and parents across Semesta’s three campuses, serving learners from playgroup and kindergarten to elementary, junior high, and senior high school.

Held at Graha Semesta, Gunungpati Campus, on Saturday, October 24, the event was more than a fundraising initiative. Through a charity bazaar and various donation activities, students learned that caring for others means taking real action and making a positive difference in the community.

Siswo Dwi Martanto, M.Pd., Chair of the Organizing Committee and OSIS Advisor, explained that charity activities have been part of Semesta’s journey since the school was first established. The program has continued to evolve over the years, adapting to changing circumstances. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Semesta continued its charitable initiatives.

“We hope our students will not only develop empathy and compassion, but also learn to organize events, collaborate, and take responsibility through OSIS programs. This gives them hands-on experience in turning care for others into meaningful action,” he said.

The funds raised will support the distribution of 500 aid packages for orphans. Of these, 150 packages will be distributed during the school event, while the remaining 350 will be delivered directly to orphanages by Semesta’s OSIS students. An additional 165 food packages will also be distributed to other orphanages.

Beyond meeting daily needs, the initiative also supports education. Part of the donations will fund UTBK university entrance exam preparation courses for 10 Grade 12 students who are orphans, helping them prepare for opportunities to pursue higher education.

Semesta Great Charity reflects the school’s commitment to an educational approach that balances academic achievement with character development. As Semesta plans to expand its educational services at Gunungpati Campus to include kindergarten and elementary school, the spirit of compassion is expected to grow from an early age and become an integral part of the wider Semesta community.

Through the spirit of “We Care, We Share,” Semesta hopes to inspire students to understand that educational success is not only about personal achievement, but also about becoming compassionate individuals who contribute positively to the lives of others.
